Safety and Education Director Position Description

DEFINITION:
Under direction of the Executive Director, performs professional work in all safety and education programs in accordance with state and federal laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the transportation, storage, handling and installation of systems of propane within the state.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
Create and develop an education curriculum to benefit the Oklahoma propane industry
Oversee obtaining and maintaining training apparatuses
Utilize the training trailer for hands on and on-site training
Set annual training calendar and budget
Work closely with the OK LP Gas Administration and the Oklahoma Propane Gas Association
Develop relationships with other industries (plumbing, home builders, etc.)
Organize and conduct Management Safety Seminars
Organize and conduct Safety Schools as needed
Organize and conduct on-site training courses as needed
Organize and conduct Class I/X test Preparatory Classes
Respond to technical/safety inquiries from the public and the industry
Attend National/Regional meetings
Present at Local/Regional/National meetings as requested/needed

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of principles and practices of training and curriculum development, including classroom and other on-the-job educational methods, procedures and techniques; knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to the propane industry in the state of Oklahoma.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Excellent Presentation Skills are Required
Extensive knowledge of the NFPA 54 and 58, ODOT Regulations, Oklahoma Statutes and Administrative Rules, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate preferred
At least five years practical experience in the propane/natural gas/or related industry preferred
Adult Training Certification preferred

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
In state travel is required; must have a clean driving record
Ability to tow a training trailer is required
Safety and Education Director will be a salaried employee
Benefits (insurance stipend, vacation, sick leave) will be offered after 90 days of employment
Employment evaluations will be performed annually
