2025 Training Schedule

Class 6A Train the Trainer

February 25, May 6, September 23

This class is designed to assist the Class 10 manager with the training of propane dispenser employees and to prepare them for the state Class 6A exam. Because each dispenser has its own characteristics, the material has been designed to meet the basic knowledge and skills needed to operate a propane dispensing system.

The class will include classroom presentation materials, testing materials, student manual and workbook, and skill evaluation forms. The classroom presentation material has been modulated so that the material can be taught in sections and used for future on-site safety training as needed or required.

Form 4 Safety Inspection

March 27, May 22, August 7, October 7

This class has been developed to assist with the safety inspection of a propane distribution system. Under state statute 52 Title 420, system inspections, pressure tests and leak tests are required any time there has been an interruption of service. This inspection requires that a Form 4 LP Gas System Safety Check be completed and submitted to the Oklahoma LP Gas Administration.

The class will include classroom study and practical skills to enhance the knowledge base of the student. We will cover the practical steps required to do the safety inspection and issues that may be encountered while doing the inspection. The students will also have the opportunity to conduct a hands on inspection using our onsite training simulator.

Propane Regulator Basics 101

April 24, July 15, September 11

The class has been designed to assist the student in the basic workings of a propane gas regulator. The class will include classroom study, which includes propane characteristics, regulator function, and system trouble shooting. Students will also be able to do hands-on practical skills using our onsite training simulators.

Class X Manager Course (Class I/X Prep Class)

March 10-14, June 9-13, August 18-22

This is a 40-hour course. The class has been developed to assist Class 1 and Class 10 managers with the updates and changes that have been made to NFPA 54, NFPA 58, and State Statutes. It also acts as a preparation class for those wanting to take the LP Gas Administration Class I/X certification exam. The class includes classroom study and practical skills. We will also have subject matter experts instructing us on different aspects of the propane industry and any updates and changes that have been made.

Do Your Drivers Understand Gauges?

Leak Checks: Using a High Pressure Gauge

Leak checks determine if the propane piping system is suitable for service and must be performed on the vapor distribution piping system immediately after turning on the gas in a new gas system or a system that has been restored after an interruption of service.

DOT Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspection Requirements

In the past, the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration accepted Oklahoma’s mandatory annual state vehicle inspection in lieu of a federal inspection. Since Oklahoma no longer requires a vehicle inspection, this obviously is no longer the case. The DOT has determined that it is the motor carrier who is responsible for ensuring that each vehicle has been inspected annually.

Today, a motor carrier has two options to meet DOT inspection requirements. First, the motor carrier may perform his or her own inspection. However, if a motor carrier self inspects, the motor carrier must have a qualified person in-house who is certified as per 49 CFR 396.19. Second, a motor carrier may choose to have a commercial garage, fleet leasing company, truck stop, or other similar commercial business perform the inspection as its agent, provided that business operates and maintains facilities appropriate for commercial vehicle inspections and it employs qualified inspectors, as required by 49 CFR 396.19.

Either way, the original or a copy of the inspection report must be retained by the motor carrier or other entity who is responsible for the inspection for a period of 14 months from the date of the inspection. The original or a copy of the inspection report must be retained where the vehicle is either housed or maintained. Finally, the original or a copy of the inspection report must be available for inspection upon demand by an authorized federal, state, or local official. In other words, a copy must also be retained in the vehicle. DOT does not require a specific inspection report form, but they do require that the inspector include particular information in the report, as required by 49 CFR 396.21.
